Sexual Health & Contraception

All our doctors have training and expertise in sexual health and contraceptive services. We offer screening for sexually transmitted infections with blood and urine tests and where necessary swabs. We have an active cervical smear recall programme and are achieving some of the highest success screening rates in central Auckland.

Most of our nurses are qualified smear takers and offer appointments throughout the day. Appointments can be made before and after work and also at the weekend with the nurse or doctor. If you require a particular doctor or nurse, please advise reception when making your appointment.

Contraceptive prescribing is offered by all doctors.

Intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD), Mirena or “coil” fitting appointments are available from Dr Karen Napier. Patients need a preliminary appointment for counselling and swabs, in addition to a longer appointment for the actual IUD fitting once the results are available. There is a fee for IUD fitting; please ask reception when you book.

Jadelle implants are also available from Dr Catalina Wong and Dr Yaw Moh. Please make an appointment to discuss whether this method is suitable for you before scheduling an insertion appointment. There is a fee for Jadelle insertion, so please ask reception when you book.

For many of our enrolled and funded patients, sexual health checks, smear tests and contraception consultations are partially or fully subsidised. This means that in some cases they may be FREE. We will advise you when you attend and receive one of these services if you are eligible for a reduced or zero cost consultation.
